thankyou. I was hoping that it would give her age to see if she was old enough to have had a child in 1916 (and possibly 1911).  My colleague's mother was born in Wandsworth workhouse and then left with some people either by the workhouse or her mother who was Elizabeth May. The story was that she had emigrated.

found her on the Ellis island site though.  Now just have to work out if she's the right Elizabeth Walsh!!!!

Ancestry.com are giving free access (until 30th April) to the immigration records. You can look at the original passenger lists, & find details of the ship & even a picture  :)
I haven't found a record of when my Gr Uncle arrived in America, but I found the record of his arrival back from a visit to England, so I now have his address & when he was naturalized so I'm very pleased  :)
