the isabella born in 1855 may be the same isabella on the 1881 census for england.

st ann's hotel, buxton, fairfield, derby (john harrison)

isabella...age 26...book-keeper...born scotland

Hi Kris

The usual reason for OPR baptisms (ie pre 1855) not being there is that the family were not established church of Scotland. You were supposed to pay C of S to register any non c of s births. Most people didn't!

However it may be possible for you to find them by contacting the National Archives Scotland who do hold recordfs of non C of S births - tho they vary in terms of how far back they go.

Similarly death pre 1855 were not registered. NAS may have the records of the mortcloth rents - tho there aren't many left but is certainly worth a try
