Hi Paul

There are some records at the National Archives -but it doesn't look too promising for 1915 or abroad. There might be something in this leaflet which could help point you in the right direction though.

McBride (Monaghan, Manchester), Derbyshire (Bollington,Cheshire), Knight (Newcastle,Staffs), Smith (Chorley, Lancs & Ireland), Tipladay (Manchester & Yorkshire) ,Steadman (Madeley,Shropshire), Steele (Manchester,Glasgow), Parkinson (Wigan, Lancashire), Lovatt, Cornes & Turner (Staffs) Stott (Oldham, Lancs). All ended up Ardwick, Manchester

Thanks for the link,
i wish i had my grandfathers first passport but i only have his last one issued in 1926 also in Batavia, he had no need for a visa written in the passport for Dutch East Indies which is strange as in 06/1928 he has a visa for it! Also the Fremantle passport stamp has the wrong year shows 1931 when it was 1932, comfirmed this with letters and i found a site that listed arrivals in Fremantle.
Still trying to find out what he was doing there
