I've used 3 day free offers a couple of times. No catch with the ones I used, no credit card info required just an email address. I got full access to all records - excellent and led to a few very late nights.

No catch

There is a small catch.  Once they have your email address they will send promotional advertising on a regular basis.

I have also used these free 3 day offers from ancestry and other than a few advertising bits and pieces from them on the odd occassion I have never found any catches. As for is it any good, different people get different results but for me it was well worth it as each time I have used it I have found "new found rellies"  and have been able to fill in gaps on my extended tree.

I've rarely had advertising from them (monthly newsletter is about the limit) but I use a hotmail address - you can default the email into your junk mail if you don't want to receive it

Can you use the free 3 day offer if you've already given them money (on a pay-per-view basis?)

Presumably you can, although you may need to open a new free email account with say Hotmail or Yahoo in order to activate the the free trial.

They do the offer to draw you in and make you feel like you can't live without it so you subscribe. I have used the service before, does anyone know whether this means I can't ever use it again?
I tried a couple of months ago on a similar offer and it wouldn't let me.
Cheers
Erin :)

I've used the trial offer a couple of times - so I guess you can use it more than once - but a little while ago I subscribed to their 'trees and connections' service for something like $20 per year and now I'm not allowed to do the 14 day trials anymore!
