Hi

One of my ancestors was called James Gallacher born 1811 in Donegal, married Mary Ann Warrington and moved to Scotland.

His father was called John Gallacher. I think he may have come from a place in Donegal called JordansTown or TorransTown. I have looked on a ma of Donegal and I cannot find any place called this.

Is John Gallacher any relation to your Gallachers ?

Do you know what / where the place in Donegal is ?

Cheers,
Warren

Hi Elaine

Ok thanks, All i know is James Gallacher came from Donegal to Scotland and that i've got his father's name, John. James settled in Paisley and my family (I am a Gallacher) have been in Ayrshire ever since his son Daniel moved there. I'm currently in Glasgow though.

I thought it would be nice to find out where James was from originally in Donegal, where his father John lived, and to see if i can learn anything more from there.

Cheers,
Warren

Hi,

James Gallacher's wife name was Mary Ann Warrington (before she got married).

I'll have a look on the renfrewshire noticeboard.

Cheers,
Warren

Hi

I've seen the post on the renfrewshire noticeboard, and it looks like they are a different set of Gallachers to mine. They could however be related further back in time in Donegal.

Cheers,
Warren
