Hi Barbara and Sarah,

As you say that is his mother and sister Emma....another new piece of information for me.

I could not find anyone else that fitted in the 1881 census. Thanks for the 1851 details.

Yes, that's them.

Have just found this one in 1881, strangely enough, also a policeman, but although his age is a little out, he might 'fit the bill'  ;)

Well I've found the policeman in 1891, married now to an Ellen, and place of birth Elmstead Essex, so not sure now.... here are the details anyway

Hi all,

It looks as if, despite everyone's terrific efforts, that this may be a lost cause.....the maddening thing is that that his first cousin and his large family could not be found in the 1881 census.

I feel that I have imposed enough and can't thank you enough for all that you have done
