Carrigallen/Drumkerran Same Area

Can some kind person tell me if Carrigallen and Drumkerran are in same area.

An ancestor of mine was born 1905 in Drumkerran Leitrim, I have been trying to locate her on passenger records as she emmigrated to New York.
The only one I have found up til present date gives last place of residence as Carrigallen Leitrim.

According to Griffiths Valuation on Origins, Carrigallen is name given to a townland, a parish and a Barony all in Co. Leitrim.

I haven't been able to find Drumkerran but looking at a map of Carrigallen every other townland name starts with Drum... so I would think that Carrigallen is correct as the parish but not specific and Drumkerran is a typo. of the actual townland.

If you would like to give me the name you are searching for I will do a search to see if it occurs in one of the Drum....s

Just found a Drumcanon in Carrigallen which made me happy.

Then I found three seperate listings for Drumkeeran in Mohill, Carrick-on-Shannon and Manorhamilton.

Hi Ronnie,
Good thing I looked at new messages to my posts as I did not get reply via email. I suppose it went into spam. Hasn`t done this before though.
I am looking for record for Rose Ann O`Rourke who left her home in Leitrim and went to New York.
I have not been able to find her on Ellis Island but have discovered sometimes immigrants docked at Boston before going on to New York.
Rose was born 1905.

The 1901 census for Leitrim has been transcribed in full and there are several O'Rourke families living in Carrigallen and Drumkeeran.

You should hopefully be able to pick out your family.

The website you sent me bounced back

I believe Rose entered New York in the early 1920s

I have a copy of her birth certificate.

Born 1905 her parents were Patrick O Rourke Rates Collector and Mother Mary Ann nee Leydon.

They should be mentioned on 1901 census.
