…  Anyhow I did get my grandfathers naturalization papers, which was awesome.

But the government didn't send any naturalization papers for my grandmother, Im thinking that back then maybe only one really had to do it.  ...

Pre- WWI a married woman (in U.S., Britain, etc.) assumed her husband's citizenship upon marriage. I believe this also applied to Canada but perhaps others will be able to confirm this.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Yes you are correct.  I received an email from our government saying the same thing.  Sucks.  But I'll
still keep looking for my grandmothers town.  Thanks all.

Hello grammatj8

I recently came across this forum.

I live in Fort William and I am related to Mary HRYHIRCZUK and George HRYHIRCZUK.

If you are interested I would very much be interested in chatting

thanks Karen, yes I found Johan Kotchan naturalization in the government thingy.  However I can't find George who is my grandfather, nor Marie or Mary Medved, or Medwid, or spelling is the problem, and I didn't look for Iftimia Johan's wife to see when she got naturalized. Her maiden name was Wiksyck.

Ive just been going over some of my chats and if I haven't talked to you, I would like to.
I don't recall seeing this before.  We were in Thunder Bay 2 years ago looking for information on my grandparents.  Hope all is well and you are keeping safe.

I just read this and must confess your Subject Line didn't tweak my interest hence I missed it.

The Kotchan farm was a few miles east of Simcoe in Townsend township near the Cockshutt Road if my memory is correct, one or two east of Culver's.

I knew George Kotchan who was born 1924 he would be found in Tim's having coffee with the boys talking weather, farming and lost neighbors in the 80's and 90's.  He died in 2012.

I also found Mary's obit in the Jarvis Record it says they were married 1913 in Fort William.

Another, was a male a longtime member of the Norfolk County Farm Safety Association but I haven't heard his name in recent years so I'm not sure if he is still around or deceased hence my omission of his name.  I believe he lived south of Delhi so he might not be related.

And finally, there is one still living who is minutes north of me in Jarvis.  Her niece (by marriage), is a neighbor.  If you want I can see if she's willing to take a telephone call.

Send me a PM, I can provide you with some names and other information.

Don, Thank you so much.  My Grandfather is George Kotchan.  Albiet the George you are talking about was my Mom's cousin.  Thanks for the info.  Im also thinking the one in Jarvis is my Mom.  Thanks for getting back to me. Who is this niece, Im curious.   It really is a small world.  Thanks again, and have a safe and Happy New Year.

So do you don't want me to introduce you to your Mother.

When I saw your interests I thought it has to be one of the family.  I trust your mother is fine, I haven't seen her out for a long time but then I haven't been out much either.

Take care and all the best to you and yours in 2021.
