Nothing in FindaGrave but he possibly didn't have a stone.

I looked up death Cert on   WWW.Scotlandspeople.Org.Uk and have following-

 John McCreadie died 2 Aug 1879 Occupation- Stoker on Tug Boat. home 8 Alison St. Newton Ayr. Spouse Isabella Wilson. Father John McCreadie -Fisherman. Mother Isabella Welsh.
"Crushed to death under lever of an engine".
 There is a further certificate attached which goes into more detail-The inquiry.
Scotland's site is fee paying but if you know what you are looking for you can save much by using info known instead of wild carding.I have McCreadie's in my tree but at this time do not thing your ancestor is amongst them.

I maybe wrong, but I think that Q98 has the death info. It was the burial info that was required:

At 9PM on 2nd August 1879, John McCreadie of 8 Allison Street, Newton (on-Ayr) was killed less than one month after the birth of his son. The location and cause of death were recorded as “On board No. 1 tug boat Ayr Harbour” and “Crushed to death under the lever of an engine” respectively. As the Certifying Physician was “John Riddall, Surgeon”, it is improbable he was buried at sea. The 4th August 1879 edition of “The Scotsman” reported the death but identified him as “John Mackenzie”. However, in the following days edition, it was corrected to “Macreadie”.

To date, I have been unable to determine John's final resting place; if he was buried in Ayr or Ballantrae (as his father was living in Ballantrae and “Informant” on his Death Extract, I thought the remains may have been taken to Ballantrae for burial). After checking with North and South Ayrshire plus "revmother2" of this website, John's final resting place remains a mystery.

Is anyone able to assist locating this man's grave?

Publications list includes graveyards.
 Ayr Auld Kirk, Newton-on-Ayr, Newton Green, Wallacetown and Ayr Cemetery are 5 possible sites if he was buried in Ayr. What was his religious denomination? There was a Secessionist graveyard and a Catholic one.
Was there no mention in newspaper of his funeral? Ayr Advertiser, Ayrshire Post?  Carrick Herald and Carrick Gazette cover events in south of the county. Ballantrae is at southern end. A Stranraer newspaper might have had Ballantrae news.

Thanks Maiden Stone. The 4th August 1879 edition of “The Scotsman” reported the death but identified him as “John Mackenzie”. However, in the following days edition, it was corrected to “Macreadie”.
As Ballantrae burial records are held at Girvan "Registry Office"(?), I contacted there but John was not buried in Ballantrae following a search up to 4 weeks following his demise.
Of the cemeteries you suggest, the sole one I have not contacted is Ayr Cemetery. However, I will do so in the near future. I have been told that old burial records could be retained at the "Crematorium" (?) near a garden centre and adjacent "Cotton Traders" store.

Possible for the Cotton Traders store, the address is showing as Dobbies Garden Centre, A70, Old Toll, Ayr KA6 5JJ

Re Crematorium, could possibly refer to Masonhill Crematorium, Ayr KA6 6EN ? See www.south-ayrshire.gov.uk/births-marriages-deaths/crematorium/
