I don't know if you already have the IGI stuff about William and parents-
William born 10th Nov 1818 and Christened 6th Jan 1819 Holy Trinity Clapham with parents William Lucas and Mary Haig.
Wlilliam Lucas and Mary Haig married 23 APR 1812   Saint James, Westminster, London, England.
I can't see a likely birth for Mary Haig, and William Lucas is unfortunately too common a name to be sure.
Hope this helps, sorry I couldn't get back any further.
Erin  :)

1861 census shows that his wife and his eldest child, William, were born in Ireland!  Interesting occupation 'traveller with pictures'.  Address 122 Porter Street, 'print shop'.  He was most likely a travelling photographer/itinerant photographer - you might be able to find his marriage in Irish records?

Do you know (ie. from where Frederick John got married, etc) if the family were Church of England, Catholic, or otherwise?

There's a second possible child for William Lucas and Mary Haig - Edward Marshall Lucas - on the IGI, also at Holy Trinity Clapham.

IThanks for information received. Must have done something right!
Frederick John got married at St Mary,s Church Preston Cof E 22nd Oct 1894. A son Lawrence Septimus died of TB in Clare Hall South Mimms Potter,s Bar on19th May 1934. Death registered in Barnet. I am wondering where he might have been buried. Parents lived in Acton London and were poor.  Other children were buried in pauper,s graves.

Hi Dorothy, I'm a beginner in genealogy but have traced my great-great grandfather to Clapham born either 1805 or 1806.  His name was Edward Lucas and I'm wondering if there is a connection to your William Lucas (although a marriage date of 1812 doesn't fit for his potential parents).  Possibly a nephew?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Richard Lucas

Hello Richard, welcome to Rootschat. This is an old thread and Dorfy hasn't been active here since May this year.

Why not set up a new thread if you're looking for help with your family?

A quick glance at FamilySearch looking for an Edward Lucas b Surrey between 1804-1807 only gives 1 from Clapham, and he was William Edward - might this be right?

you will get lots of help here if you can give us some more info!

Hi Richard.  I hope there is dome connection bur I do not think I can help.  In some places William is listed as William Lawrence Lucas .  The only Edward I know of is my uncle born 1896 grandson of William Lucas son of Frederick John Lucas. At some point they moved to Lancashire.  Whether or William  did I do not know. My father Harry moved to Yorkshire where I still live.

WE have a Richard in the family, my nephew

Good luck with your research
Dorothy

No.  They lived in Preston and Barrow in Furness. My grandparents moved to Acton London I think in the 20's.  Looks as though we are not directly related. Have you got back any further than William and Mary (Haig)Lucas?
