Before buying the house we're in now, put in an offer on a d**e Cottage, d**e Lane. Lovely house but loved the address. There is a town in Germany called W##K.  :P

Alright!  i give in,   It's a bit early and i,m sat here pulling my hair out ( not good when i've got a interview this morning).

There was/is a village in Bedfordshire called Ipploitis or somthing like that.  I've looked on Multimap and cant find it.  anyone?

The name was dyke. I did write it in full as I didnt think the word that describes a thing to hold water back was that naughty really but someone must have put in the *s. And as we now have the name of the town in Germany spelt out for us I can't see the problem?

Fitty, the village in Beds is called Ippolitts, Ippolyts or St Ippolitts, It varies and I have loads of ancestors from there ;D
Lawson in Durham and Croydon,
Corbett in Surrey,
Watts in Surrey and Croydon,
King in Herts,
Knight in South East London,
Papworth in East London,
Brewer in Essex,
Eley/Ely in Essex,
NewburyNewberry in Herts
