St. Michael on Wyre 1728-1827

Hello Phil,

I have two Robert Whittaker's born to Matthew and Ann Whittaker (they married in June 1763 I believe).  This is for St Michael's.

One of the Roberts born in 1771 and the other in 1777 - have you any death recorded for the first Robert?

Sorry, given you wrong information there - I think the 2 x Roberts may have been born in Stalmine in 1771 and 1777.

Matthew and Ann were married in St Michaels I believe in June1763.

I could not find any reference to a Robert Whittaker in the St. Michael on Wyre registers.  The only entries I could find for this surname both occured in 1728 as follows:

"May 17 John Whiteacre, & Margaret Law, Ins Ly [married the 17th day by Lycance from Garstang]"

"Nov 3 John s. John Whiteacre, Ins"

Please can I take you up on your generous offer for a St Michael on Wyre lookup, for many years I have been trying to find a Leonard Billington around 1750 - +5 in that area. Also a marriage for Ann Billington and Thomas Hornby around 1777.
My husband's Billington line were all from that area.

I show the following marriage entry from St. Michael on Wyre: 
August 18, 1777
Thomas x Hornby, Wood tp & Anne x Billington, Wood tp banns wit John Ratcliff, Agnes Houghton

I could not find Leonard Billington's baptism at St. Michael on Wyre but there is a Leonard Billington in the IGI born April 15, 1753 in Woodplumpton parish, son of John Billington, but it also shows that he died on January 12, 1758.  However there is a Leonard Billington listed in several of the St. Michael on Wyre records as father of children being baptized and as a marriage witness and baptism sponsor.

Thank you for your very speedy response!
The marriage entry is the one I have been looking for and the Leonard who is mentioned as a father and a witness at marriages is mine to but his baptism stays a mystery - I have a feeling that I read somewhere that he may have been from Cottam - but he remains a brick wall for the moment.
May I enquire if there are a lot of Billington entries?

I am away from my pc at the moment but I recall that there were quite a number of Billingtons.  Would you like further information?  If so do you want it published here or a personal message?

My Tomlinson family, who were Upper Rawcliffe Catholics, seem to have interacted with the Billington family.  The name Anthony Billington pops up from time to time -- I think he was a sponsor for one of my ancestor's baptism.
