1891 Cardiff Census Hicks
« on: Monday 06 December 04 13:18 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find my Hicks relations in Cardiff in 1891 and have so far failed

My great grandfather George Hicks was married from 23 Habersham Street later the same year so I hope the family are somewhere in the vicinity. George was born 1871/2 probably in Gloucestershire. By 1901 it has been transcribed as London-very unlikely! probably a small village somewhere. His father was William Hicks born about 1850 in Gloucestershire possibly Marshfield and is either a widower or remarried to Rebecca. Other children would include Francis and Elizabeth.

If somebody could hrlp I would be grateful

Thanks very much but I already had this. Apologies for not having mentioned it!

Still trying to find them after this period. George(my ggrandfather ) married Jane Sollis in 1891(after the census). William (gggrandafther) I think has remarried by 1901 as Julia died in 1888. Any thoughts on the rest would be gratefully received.

Kim:  The George Hicks married to Harriett Gingell is my 2xGG too! But he was born in 1828.  I think the George Hicks the OP is talking about is our George's grandson.

Janed:  My 2xGG George Hicks had a son called William born around 1851.  Sorry, but I don't know anything about William's children - haven't got to that offshoot yet.  The only information I have is that William was living at 18 Thesiger St in 1886, when he was the informant on his father's (also George) death certificate.  Sorry I can't help more.

Morgan Meltz what line do you stem from?, as i come from George's  daughter Mary Gingell who married Oreb Zeeb Kinson ( James ). As my mum is a Kinson by birth her father is Henry Allen Kinson who is Mary Gingell and James's  son

Hi Kim!  From what I understand, we can't exchange private messages until we have 3 posts, so I have to answer here.

My line is through Annie E Hicks, who married John Norman.  Their son George Henry Norman was my grandfather.

I do have Henry Allen Kinson on my tree, but nothing about who he married or his children.  I see I have a hint on Ancestry for Henry Allen marrying Minnie Elizabeth Stone.  Is that the one?

Looking at Janads profile, it is showing that we are no longer able to make contact with them I am afraid.
