Castlemartyr - Link

Castlemartyr was the family seat of the Viscounts Shannon and Earls of Shannon and other members of the Boyle family. The town has a population of about five hundred people and a further 2,000 living in the hinterland. Castlemartyr was established in the 17th century as an estate village by Richard Boyle, the “Great” Earl of Cork. James “Capability” Brown landscaped the estate and Robert West, the famous stuccadore, added the delicate embellishment to the interior of the mansion house.

There's very little known about St Anne's Church of Ireland at Castlemartyr. Mallow Heritage Centre has both the Roman Catholic Baptismal and Marriage records for Castlemartyr from 1835 to 1895.

Sir Riggs Falkiner of Anne Mount, Co.Cork, was M.P. for Clonakilty from 1768-1776 and for Castlemartyr from 1776-1783.
