I have a William Kerr b. 21 May 1780, Plecairne, Dalton Parish.  I think Plecairne was a farm in Cairne.  Not sure.  Anyway, he was the son of John Kerr and Margaret Esbie.  Does this sound familiar?

Hi Maineyusa, have a look at the posting headed Cleughbrae there are at least eleven pages of information regarding the various Kerr families in the parishes around Mouswald, Torthorwald, and Dalton. Iam confident that we are all probably related. Regards stoop.

I should have pointed out that Kerrs of Cleughbrae is Dumfriesshire not Kircudbrightshire. Regards stoop.

Hi Stoop,
I noticed from one of your previous messages you mention James Kerr married to Sarah Phillips Pattie of Newbridge.7 years ago I was in contact with one Brian Bell who was also related to this family of James and one of the son's of James called George, died at Chatham in the USA in 1873.I know that Brian had an ancester who was a blacksmith in Mouswald called Joseph Kerr who was a brother to my William.
Steve.
