Prince John
« on: Tuesday 12 June 07 00:34 BST (UK) »
Hi, a person with the disorder in the States, I was struck with the story of Prince John, the Lost Prince.
Seeing that things were handled differently in those days, I understand he was kept out of the public's eyes.
I also learned that he was the uncle of your present Queen.
Had he been around, would your history of your monarchy been changed?

When he was born he was sixth in line to the throne but he had 4 older brothers.  When his father died The eldest brother became Edward V111 who abdicated and had no children.
Next came George V1 who was the father to our present Queen and  Princess Margaret
2 other brothers, Duke of Gloucester and Duke of Kent had 5 children

All the children and grandchildren of these brothers would have been higher up the line than poor John so, no, it would have not changed the fact that Elizabeth became Queen

Prince John died aged around 12 years of epilepsy.

He lived all his life in a house on the Sandringham estate.

It would not have made the slightest difference to whether the Queen would have been on the throne.  the only thing that affected it was the fact her Uncle David , Edward V111 abdicated.

Her father was next in line and therefore she was the Heir Presumptive.

I have often wondered if his headstone in Sandringham indicates his royal status and is appropriate for his royal station.  Does anyone know?

Apparently the headstone does indicate his status:

Quote
Prince John is buried in the churchyard at Sandringham beneath a plain grey rounded tombstone of smoothed granite. On it are the simple words: "HRH Prince John, 1905-1919."
