SLY Families in Warminster
« on: Friday 12 March 04 20:07 GMT (UK) »
I would like to hear from anyone with connections to  Sly families in Warminster.
My main interest is John Sly son of Edward and Mary Sly( nee Holton) baptised in Warminster on 4/2/1816. His father Edward is believed to be the illegitimate son of Elizabeth Sly sister of John Sly. Possible connections back to 1600's in Warminster area. Any information on any Sly's in this area would be much appreciated.
Regards.
Geoff.

You may already have this information but it is possible your John Sly may have still been alive in 1901 Geoff.

I have found an entry for a John Sly aged 86 on the 1901 census, no other family with him unfortunately.

George, Johns younger brother may also have still been alive.  There is an entry for a George Sly aged 80 living with Susannah aged 78 and Samuel aged 37.

Searching for

Woodman (Frocester, Great Rissington, Slimbridge, Aston, Birmingham, Bedford, St Albans)
Phillips (Aston, Birmingham)
Crow (King's Lynn, Hull, East Ham)
Gillett (Moreton in Marsh, East Ham)
Jellyman (Coaley, Birmingham Anywhere in Worcestershire or Staffordshire)
Hopkins (Ashleworth, Westbury on Severn)
Curtis (Gloucester, Aston, Birmingham)
Drinkwater (Castle Moreton, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire)
Jackson (Essex)

Plus many more
