i am looking for the birth of mary blair bor in durham about 1840.

her father was william.

can anyone help.

I think there is a link on the Durham board to the local BMDs and you may well find her on that if she was registered.   Otherwise look at the full version of the BMDs on ancestry.co.uk    Have you found her on a census yet?   I had a quick look for her in 1851 and she did not leap out at me!   What was her father's occupation?

all the census information after her marriage says that she was born in durham, durham

i cant find a mary blair with william as a father anywhere, maybe i have been given the wrong information about her fathers name.

It might be best if you get her marriage certificate as that will confirm her father's name and you will be sure what you are looking for.  Who did she marry?
Can you quote a census reference for her?

she married william burton  in1859 jan-feb-mar quarter in darlington.

i have that many certificates to send off for it is unbelievable.

i am trying to finish my grans 5 genera\tion chart for her 85th birthday.

they were living in middlesbrough in 1861
brunswick street in darlington in 1871
leyburn in 1881

There are a couple of possibles in 1851 but not with father William - where did you get that info from?    I found her easily in all census up to 1901 and she does indeed always put Durham as her place of birth.  It is interesting that their son is called Francis as that is quite an unusual name.  Perhaps that was a family name?
Unfortunately Durham is not well covered on the IGI but it might be worth contacting Durham Record office and asking them to look at baptism transcripts for around 1840.   The local family history group might help too.  NDFHS     www.genuki.com might have some links too.

i got the fathers name off someone else tree but it has to be wrong because there isnt a mention.  thankyou for looking anyway.
i will sent a message to bishop auckland as they are dealing with all of durhams queries now.
