Sorry for the late reply LadyHolme : I've search my Tree and can't find any of the names for those dates in my tree, I have seen headstones at Casterton with the name Carus on them around the back a few of my Ancestors are buried in the Churchyard there too. There's Wilsons , Parkers, Holmes there also aswell as Garnett's, The Carus Headstone there is of William Carus-Wilson it's one of those lying down around the back near the tree's, I have a photo of it also. If i find any new info i'll be sure to put it here.

1841 Census is not much help as Robert/Jane/Margt are all down as not born in County of Lancs!

I may be completely off here but.

1851 Jane Knowles is born c 1791 Kendal, Westmorland and 1861 c 1796/1871 c 1797

Hello Ladyholme, I remembered there was a Carus  Park at Halton and another at Arkholme. Lancashire. I was trying to trace the origins of these areas when I came across this site.  It mentions the Carus family and also the Gernet family (Gernet = Garnett ? You never know) It dates from  the 1200s when religion played a  big  part in everything. The most interesting part of the article is in relation to the Manor.
