Newaboys Home Everton Road Liverpool

[Clingan]

Can anyone help please. Looking for information in regards to Newaboys Home located on Everton Road beginning 1900's.
One of the heads of the place was a Thomas Clingan who went there as boss man following his retirement as an Inspector in the Liverpool Police.
Any help/info appreciated.

I know it doesn't answer your question but this is all I could find. Have you tried the records office in Liverpool? They may have more information. Good Luck!

There were also the Father NUgent Homes in Liverpool,   This man was responsible for sending orphaned and other children to Canada, as well as Barnados and other religious socieites.

Father Nugent also collected children from Ireland to send to Canada as well.  It is documented online this is one such site which gives lists of childrens names and where they came from.

Hi Ian,

The RO dont hold any records of this home. Apparently they are kept in Sydney Jones museum. I have to find out about this museum, I will let you know.

However, I did find Thomas Clingan Obit., makes very interesting reading. Over 100 hundred policemen among the mourners!

I have found he was buried in Toxteth Park Cemetery. Do you have a date for his death? I looked through 1903, but I couldn't find him. I could go and take a photo of his head stone for you, if you want.

Thanks very much for the offer but I now have two copies of the same obit. One arrived from Oz and the other from USA. Both coming from Irish Clingan
researchers, needless to say they are now in contact with one another.
Thanks once again and also thanks for everyone else that's passed on info.
Looks as if the home may, repeat may have been one of those that sent the kids in their charge to Canada/Oz.

Can I just put on record the appreciation of the work you have done on behalf of the Irish Clingan researchers both in Australia and Canada, especially in Canada, as they are the direct descendents of Thomas, they are mighty pleased.
