Hi there to Gloucestershire Researchers
I am looking for a marriage of Sarah Wilkes to my William Swarbrooke – most likely in Gloucestershire between 1826 - 1834.
Sarah Wilkes I am led to believe is the 5th child and the 2nd daughter of William Wilkes and Alice Overthrow who were married in St Nicholas Church, Gloucester in 1792. Sarah herself was baptized (according to the IGI) in Gloucester on 7th November 1806. (This birth year ties in with her age at death from her death certificate)
I know that her first child was probably born in Gloucestershire because it was baptized at Bourton on the Hill in Gloucester on the 22nd June 1834.(mum usually went home to have her first child) The rest of her 5 children were all born and baptized in Macclesfied – Sarah died in Childbirth on the 3rd July 1848 in Macclesfield, her baby dieing two weeks later.
As yet, I have been unable to find the marriage of Sarah and William – but would assume it is more likely to be in Gloucestershire rather than Macclesfield in Cheshire.
Any help in checking parish registers for same would be very welcome.
