Hi Fizzy and Geoff
This is great news I cannot wait to tell my friend she will be amazed at all this info you have found.
Did I tell you Harry Asman Bellamy joined the Navy and was stationed at Plymouth where he met his wife Frederica Margareta Maud.
Have yet to find there marriage as they got married when he was about 40.
                     Thanks once again

Sarah BELLAMY 26 Billinghay in Coningsby in 1851
with her mother Susan 70 Billinghay
and 3 little BELLAMYs
Susan 8 Billinghay
Emma 6 Boston
R Emma 4mo Coningsby
I wasn't too happy about 2 girls called Emma - as there was a Birth for

Bellamy    Rosanna Holmes         Horncastle    14   453
in Q4 1850

In fact having looked at the image again, I was being confused by the tail of a letter on the line above ... I'm sure the name is Rosanna :)

Sorry - I modified this post instead of quoting it - note that I have reached a different conclusion about the youngest child.

I doubt there ever was a John BELLAMY despite what it may say elsewhere (marriage certificate?).  More than likely the babe could be laid at the door of someone called HOLMES.
Don't cry because its over. Smile because it happened.

You can see where harry asman bellamy got his name from now !!

If you go to the following link :

http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:3302477&id=I26772

You will see that it was the marriage cert that recorded the father as John Bellamy deceased.

Has your name naffigirl got anything to do with the wartime naffi. I can remember as a girl walking past the NAAFI club on Plymouth Hoe. I think iNAAFI stood for Navy, Army and Air Force Institution or something. the building is still there - part of Plymouth Uni now.

Be very careful of trees like that.  Just because it's on the Internet, it doesn't mean it's fact.

I quote
"1891 Census - St Mary Magdalene,Lincoln,Lincolnshire - Harry A Asman age 15 born in Lincoln, Lincolnshire - with parents"

He appears as ... Harry A BELLAMY!

Just be careful ;)

I cant seem to do anything right in Geoff's eyes --deeeerrrrrrrr.

I wasnt suggesting it as a good family tree. I was merely saying that on it was info saying that the marriage cert showed the father as John.

Sorry, no offence intended ... sadly, some people believe every word simply because something is on the internet.  I'm always warning about the validity of submitted entries in the IGI as many of them are hopeful fabrications.

I think (between us!) with your discovery of Rosanna Holmes BELLAMY (born 1850) we've possibly debunked the John BELLAMY "fact" - why are these invented fathers always dead? - the balance of probability being that Matthew was a son of the unmarried Sarah.
