Trying to find uncle. Born in Brisbane 1915.
« on: Friday 22 June 07 23:09 BST (UK) »
I seemed to have been unlucky and missed out by a year on the qld gov archive site. I know of an uncle born in 1915 to Walter Frederick Hopkins and Jessie Ockelford, but I dont know his name. It is not George Walter who I was lucky enough to find on the qld site. Any help would be appreciated.

Good morning pebige

First of all congratulations on becoming  RootsChat Member and registering your first Post::  All Members are very helpful.

This may be a lateral thought towards finding your HOPKINS uncle.

A snail mail to the following Brisbane Queensland Australia addresses may give you a helpful result.  There are too many HOPKINS!!

Hi pebidge
Online births may only go up to 1914, but if the fiche or CDs are searched, they will go up to 1919.    I don't have any here, but am prepared to look for you next time I go to the state library or local family history centre.  This may not be for a few weeks though.
Maybe someone else out there has the CDs in their own possession and can look for you.
If you don't get anything, just notify and I'll look when I go next time.
Regards
Anita   :)

Hi pebige,

Welcome to rootschat!

I'll be happy to look for your uncle's birth at the Queensland State Archives.
Someone with the CD's might come to your assistance in the meantime, but if not it's no problem for me to pop along one day next week.

Think you had better very quickly save or print the list of addresses Edo has posted because the Mods will whizz it off as soon as they see it!!!

I see the burials for Jessie and Walter and a Lavinia Atkins buried together

I also note that they were married in 1908 in Qld but their first birth isn't to 1914 so it may be possible they had children in another State
