Thats great Kerry thank you - and not being able to find them in 1851 may tie in with the death record you found for Thomas in 1845.

I suppose in those days they knew what there surname was but probably not how to spell it.  Everytime they gave their name to a priest or enumerator it would be written down how it was pronounced hence the variations.

I suppose if all our ancestors had been literate this family research would not be so interesting lol

Many thanks again Kerry

That's a pleasure Elaine

I put it down to different people's interpretations and the accent too.  I have a family called Risbridger in Surrey who suddenly became Rusbridge for no apparent reason.  Makes things very interesting!

Hi Elaine,

Jane Wickes was baptised 16 Apr 1820 in Hordle, parents Thomas & Sarah.

Other children look to be:
William Weeks 11 Jul 1813
Elizabeth Weeks 15 Feb 1815
James Weeks 1 Jun 1816
Susannah Wicks 13 Sep 1818

Not having much success with the marriage - checked Wix, Week(e)s, Wick(e)s but not found anything so far.

Hi Nell - was just wondering if Thomas & Sarah may have married in a different county - does Hordle border another ?

No, it doesn't.  It has the Solent on its southern border!  They may well have married in Hordle, it's just that I don't have access to the records.  :(
