Thank you so much for going to all the trouble!  Robert was one of John's brothers so it is likely that it was the family butchers.  Will now search through the website you have given.

1 1896 CAMERON JOHN MUIR M PARTICK GLASGOW CITY/LANARK 646/03 1375 VIEW (5 CREDITS) ORDER
this is john's birth on scotlands people.  this will give you an address for the family.
if he was a butcher like his father, do you think he could have worked in the family business.  maybe we could look at the phonebooks on ancestry.  do you think the butcher's was in glasgow around 1933?
the only Slavin I know of in Larnark is John Slavin who married Janet Darby. He was a shoemaker and lived in Cheapside St. His second wife was an Ellen Mclauchlan who died jan 1901 curiously she (Ellen) is still living at Cheapside Poor house Infirmary 3 months later in census record her husband John is at 42 Cheapside St (a widower)
