Need name of church in Merthyr please COMPLETED!!!
« on: Tuesday 26 June 07 05:52 BST (UK) »
Rees ancestors lived at 102 High Street in Merthyr Tydfil.  A written family history states that the wife [Maria Mason Rees- died 1835] and a daughter [Naomi Rees- died 1849] of William Rees were buried along the front walkway of the Old Church at Merthyr Tydfil.  I would like to have pictures of their headstones but do not even know the name of the church to ask for someone to take them.  The history says it is a Wesleyan church.
Anyone have a clue?

Actually, no.  I had seen that site and that is what prompted me to ask on these boards.  I do, however, appreciate your kindness in responding.

You could try making contact with Merthyr Tydfil library, the reference librarian is very helpful, and I'm sure will know the answer!

here's the email link

library.servicesATmerthyr.gov.uk

to avoid spamming I've altered it, just replace the AT with the symbol

Thanks, Newbie.  I got an answer from them earlier this morning.  They were buried at the St. Tydfil church.  They also provided me with other information reagrding that time period.  So...I guess this case is closed!   :D  Thanks again.

Picture of St Tydfil's early days before restoration in the late 1800s.
