Duffy of Carrickmacross
« on: Sunday 01 July 07 20:06 BST (UK) »
Seeking family of James Joseph Duffy, Mineral Water Manufacturer of New Street (now O'Neill Street) Carrickmacross, father of Vincent Michael Duffy (1881 - 1912) press artist and Bernard Joseph Duffy (1882 - 1952) barrister, author/playwright by his 1st wife Mary Ann McEntegart who died in 1885.

In 1895 James Joseph Duffy married his second wife Ann Hoey daughter of Patrick Hoey of Co Louth and Ann Martin of Leons Beg, Magheracloone at Sunderland, Co Durham. Three more Duffy children were born at Carrickmacross, Anna Maria (1896) James Joseph (1898) and Mary Ellen (1899.) Sadly James Joseph Duffy became a widower for a second time on the death of Ann aged 30 who was taken to the Rock Chapel Cemetery, Magheracloone for burial and he died 1912 aged 58 leaving the children orphans.

In 1912 the children,s next of kin was Bernard Joseph Duffy then aged 30 unmarried and practising as a barrister in Dublin. Anna Maria, James Joseph and Mary Ellen Duffy were my mother's second cousins and I who like to know what become of them after 1912.

I would be grateful for any clues,
Thanking you all in anticipation,
Mr Terence Arthur,
Tyne & Wear,
England.

For the attention of AGrieve. Thank you for your response. This was an old post of mine from nearly 12 years ago but I'm still interested.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
