PATEY family in Devon
« on: Monday 02 July 07 01:23 BST (UK) »
My brick wall is Edward Patey born 1801 in London England. I know nothing before but noticed Pateys in Halberton and Other Devon places. The IGI had a Eugenia Patey who married ? Beer/s. This name is repeated as a daughter of Edward. Other offspring are Druscilla, Everilda and Merrit all unusual. Any help would be appreciated.
Kind Regards

Try Pateyjohn or Peatheyjohns Patheyjohns, this was a large family centred around South Brent in Devon. The name has many variations

Hello
I noticed your Edward Patey married at Ealing, and there are a couple having children at Ealing.
Robert Patey/Peatey married Mary Banks 27.4.1790
Children Elizabeth 6.6.1791
            Sarah 4.11.1792
            Catherine 1.6.1794
            Mary 8.11.1795
Sometimes Patey ,sometimes Peaty but obviously the same couple.
As your Patey's were buried in the Wesleyian churchyard at Hammersmith is it possible latter children were baptised in a non-conformist chapel?

Haha yes. I only made this when I seen your comment on google as I'd been trying to find information on my grandads family also. He was born 28th October 1926 I'm positive it was 1926 (if not 1924). He passed December 30th 2014. His name was William Maurice Patey, there was also a sister named Vivienne. My grandads father passed away very young, I think my grandad said when he was 13. He was hit by a car whilst he was cycling his bike. He moved to Edinburgh and married my granny 14th March 1952.
