Can any one help ??
« on: Saturday 11 December 04 11:23 GMT (UK) »

Hi

I am looking for anyone out there who may have some information about a William Head, who married a Jane Fairall in 1840 at Fairlight
He was a fisherman
I know who Jane's parents are, but can't seem to find the right William Head.

The marriage certificate states that he was of full age and she was a minor.

I know that they had at least one daughter called Rachel and would be interested to see if there were any other siblings
Many thanks
Yvonne

Does it not give a father's name and occupation on the marriage certificate ?

Its me again

Just looked at the Baptism registers for Hastings wih the following results:-

All Saints - 19th Jan 1814, Head William, son of Charles & Bridget, Fisherman

but he was not their first William, as there is another one with the same parents two years earlier

All Saints - 5th July 1812, Head William, son of Charles & Bridget

other children of Charles & Bridget include:-

All Saints - 10th Feb 1808, Sarah Head
All Saints - 27th June 1810, Ann Head

The above ties in with the marriage of Charles HEAD & Bridget KENT in All Saints Church on 21st Mar 1805

Also spotted the marriage of William & Sarah - but you alreadt have that information
Fairlight, East Sussex,  Date: 10 Dec 1840:
William HEAD, bachelor, fisherman and Jane FAIRALL, spinster, both of this parish by Banns.

Yvonne - do you have the marriage cert for William and Jane ?  It should give both bride and grooms fathers and their occupations..if there is no fathers name for either of them on the cert then it would mean that one of them was probably illegitamate.

Free BMD has William Head married to Jane Farhall Registered Dec Qtr 1840 - Dist Hastings - Vol 7 - page 539.

Suey.
