I'm dubious about Chris as it seems to be a very modern name form.

Is it possibly Amos?

I found someone on a census once that was transcribed as Chris on Ancestry but on checking it was Chas.  (for Charles).

I thought this at first, but going back and looking at the whole thing, I think the name at the top was put on by the receiver or someone else as the writing and pen is slightly different, and the 'As I appeared........' bit was the only original writing, as the subject and the person it was sent to, knew who he was, so no name was needed.

Hope you follow my drift! :-\

Just another thought - is the mark between CAIRO and PORTRAIT part of the printed card or a dot after an initial. I have screwed up my eyes at it, but can not make out the exact colour!!

The first bit is exactly how my husband writes his name - Chris - uncanny!  :o

The rest is really difficult!  Would love to know what it says, though.

If the A is initial for the middle name, could the surname be Alblie with the second A printed?  There is a crossbar in that letter.
