I think Linda might have info on the Dimmack line (I checked her previous postings!) but it's very kind of you to provide all that info for her.

Getting back to the central problem. I think I might look for some deaths for John and Jane, post 1885. As you said earlier, trying to find McKenzies and McLeans - especially John and Jane/Jeans is a bit needles and haystacks up here - one down from McLeods  ;D

did we ever find out who catherine married? and was her parents alive then?

i see that the parents were alive in 1885 so you think we could find catherine in 1881!!!

You try finding the marriage of a Catherine McKenzie sometime after 1879 (when she would have been 16) then  ::) ::) ::)  It might be that she went off to Glasgow with Alexandrina. Try the 1881  :)

I'll stick to the deaths  and a glass of something  :)

best i can see is that catherine aged 21 inveness asylum

alexandrina domestic servant in glasgow,

still cannot find alexander dimmack on the 1891 census!!

Have you tried Kate, Katie,  Catrine, Cathrine, Caterine and missplelings and M*ckenzie?

Grigor McKenzie died Inverness, 1866. The full death cert can be obtained from www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

So it looks as if John, Alexandrina and Catherine were the only surviving children.
