Looking for John Laidlaw born Traquair, Peebleshire
« on: Monday 13 December 04 15:21 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I'm trying to find the DOB for John Laidlaw, born around 1804 (although the 1851 census shows him aged 45, which would make it 1806) in Traquair, Peebleshire. He was married to Mary and had children James, John, Euphemia, Catherine and Charles, my GG-grandfather.

John's death certificate is fairly unclear, and shows he was aged either 62 or 68 when he died, which widens the search to between 1798 and 1806.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Joanne

Hiya Parpace,

The instructions on teh 1841 census was to round ages down to the nearest 5.  That could explain the discrepancy.
