Hi Jo

I am trying to send you a copy of The Pindar Oaks Inn in Barnsley where my Ancestors lived between 1871 and 1883.  Not sure if this helps you at all.

Regards

As regards Charles Tee, no doubt you are aware of this event:
Births, Deaths, Marriages and Obituaries .
The Sheffield & Rotherham Independent  Saturday, October 26, 1878; pg. 12;  from 19th Century British Library Newspapers: Part II.

HODGETTS October 12, at Bridlington Quay, Rebecca, widow of Thomas HODGETTS, and daughter of the late Charles TEE, of Pinder Oaks, Barnsley, aged 56.

Quite a lot about Charles Tee is the above newspaper-he was involved in a railway accident in 1845, and most of his children's marriages are mentioned.

Tom

Thank you, I had not spent any great time researching Rebecca so what you posted was of great interest. Please could you tel me how I could gain access to these British Library Newspapers, is it a subscription based service?

Peramar, many thanks for the picture. It all helps in building up a picture of the area and is much appreciated.

Kind regards
Jo

I know this is a very old thread so you may not pick it up. Researching my family my Great Great Uncle Charles Baker was a boarder there on the 1871 census. His occupation was a Carter so whether or not it was an overnight stop of he lived there I don't know

If he was a carter I would guess he was staying there for the night.

         They didn't work 9 to 5 in those days  ;D ;D ;D ;D

"  were the owners of the hotel your ancestors? "

             No connection at all.
