GAIR
« on: Thursday 02 August 07 04:02 BST (UK) »
While researching families in Thurso, I came across a marriage that took place in The Gair Temperance Hotel - 1929. I wondered if any other Gair researcher knew of this hotel.

Have you seen info on the Gairs in caithness.org message board . A few bits:
Quote "Temperance Hotel owned by Donald Gair. Mr Gair had a bonnie daughter, Margaret, who caught the eye of young Donald Manson. The couple married in 1900 and settled down in Thurso to raise a family – they were to have six sons "

also http://forum.caithness.org/showthread.php?p=241756#post241756     post no 232 for a pic.

I have Gair in my family via a marriage 1857 of Catherine GAIR to James ROBERTSON in Keiss.

Thanks Tricia - yes - I've a lot of posts on that forum - never far away from it.  Gair was a new surname to me.
