Hi Bryant ...

Following on from Tati's reply above, the parish of Freeland only had its own PRs from c1870 onwards.  Before that they were included in Eynsham PRs, which would explain why the census entries give both Freeland and Eynsham as place of birth.

I would guess that he was probably born in Freeland, but you will find his baptism in the Eynsham PRs.

A little further background information for you ...

FreeBMD has the following marriage:

Mar QTr 1847 - Thomas REDBOND - Witney Reg. District (which includes Eynsham/Freeland)

Possibly John's parents?

Checking the OFHS's Oxfordshire Marriage Index (1538-1837), there are three male REDBONDs marrying at Witney in the mid 1700s, and a Thomas REDBONE marrying at Eynsham in 1822.

Hope this is of interest.

Thankyou Tati......Thankyou Pennie

All information is good information!

Wherever it was I was hoping it was in the Witney R.D

NOW.............what was Maurice Tubbs doing in Witney when he died there in 1979?

*Brother Charles with wife Mercy and kids live next door in 1881 and 1891

Thanks again  ;)
