looking for info on James Topping & Ann Topping-Toppin they were the parents of my G-grandmother Mary,i have Ann in the 1881 census in Workington,Cumbria but born Ireland and also don't know maiden name and I know that James was a plasterer but was deceased in the census

Hi,

What age is Mary on the 1881 census? Do you have her on the 1871 census too? Ireland is a big place to search for one person.

If you go to this website http://scripts.ireland.com/ancestor/surname/index.cfm and enter the TOPPING name it shows where TOPPING families were in the Griffiths Valuation. They seem concentrated in Co Down.
There are also TOPPING families further south.
