whitby marriage 1831
« on: Friday 17 August 07 20:39 BST (UK) »
hi,
i'm trying to locate any additional info on my 3 x grt grandparents thomas wood and helen edgar.
i have them on from various english census' (1841 - 1881) but never in the same place. however on all census' they give their place of birth as lanark (thomas) and galloway (helen). their eldest two children were born in whitby (c1832 and 1833) and on igi i found the marriage of thomas wood and hellen edgar, 29 may 1831, whitby.
there are numerous possibles on sp, but i need to know their fathers names in order to narrow the search.
would their marriage record include these details? and is there anyone who could look it up for me?
i've tried looking at the parish records on other sites, but apart from the igi one i can't find anything.
any help greatly appreciated
thanks

hi shipwright,
thank you for taking the time to look this up for me.
although the marriage record doesn't contain either parents details, their daughters 'middle' name of bulman is a good lead.
thanks again
sue

Hi sueky71,

Did you make any more progress with Thomas Wood and Hellen Edgar? They are also my 3 x Great grandparents and i have hit the same impasse as yourself.

Hi RJP75

This was such a long time ago, I honestly can't remember off hand!
I think I might have had some success with the Thomas - let me rummage through my stuff and get back to you.

Have either of you obtained a copy of the Marriage Bond and Allegation?  That may or may not give additional information about the couple.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Hi sueky71,

I know it has been quite some time since you posted this, but do you have any more info on Thomas and Helen? I am also distantly related to them!
Anything you might have would be greatly appreciated!

Kind regards
