Hi Christopher,

That's right its not on the Tandragee/Lurgan Road but a different Scott's corner where I'm from - Armagh/Loughgall Road.

Thought I would post it anyway.

Priscilla

Hi,

We are trying to identify a “Mr. Scott” who married my Great-Grandmother’s sister “Miss Orr” sometime in the 1880’s.  Miss Orr was the daughter of Joseph Orr (1819c - 1871) and Mary Ann Orr (nee Kerr) (1829c -1873 ) of Lisnacroy (near Benburb), Co Tyrone.  Mr and Mrs Scott lived in Belfast and were living at 4 Orangefield Crescent (near Castlereagh Road) in the mid-1940’s.  According to a family member who visited in 1945, the Scotts were financially well off and had business interests in Belfast harbour.  Mr and Mrs Scott had three children:

Joseph Scott (1889-1941), killed during the bombing of Belfast harbour
Harriet Elizabeth Scott (1886-1970c)
Dickson (Dick) Scott (1895-1980c)

Do you see any connection with your Scott family?  We have pictures of Miss Orr and would love to know her first name and exchange information about the family.

Thanks in advance for any information you are able to provide.  Please respond to:  (*)

Thank you for your quick reply and the information.  Joseph Orr and Mary Ann Kerr were my Great, Great Grandparents.  Their female child was my Great Grandmother, Annie, born on Jan 20, 1867.  Annie had an older sister who married Mr. Scott.

I have a copy of the Belfast newspaper announcement for the marriage of John Robert Scott to Eliza Jane Orr on June 3, 1887.  It indicates that Eliza Jane Orr was the youngest daughter of the late Nathaniel Orr or Annacramp, Armagh and J.R. Scott was the eldest son of James Scott of Annacramp.  Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like they were the Mr. and Mrs. Scott in my family.

Thanks again for the information.

E James

I know your message is a couple of years old now, but would you still have that Belfast newspaper announcement? John Robert Scott and Eliza Jane Orr are my ancestors
