Looking for info on Margaret Baillie who married Robert Bruce Howie in Glasgow 1889.She is noted on a will dated 1917 with the address of Carlton House, Millport. In the 1881 census for Glasgow Robert Bruce Howie is a watchmaker so he may have still been following that trade.I'm quite sure that Margaret's family came from Cumbrae.

Also does anyone know anything about Joseph Bruce Howie he was a Master Mariner and in the same will is "latterly of Almond Bank, West Bay, Millport".

                          Thanks

Hi Merryhow

Margaret & Robert's marriage is on Scoptland's People. They married in Glasgow on 11/6/1886.

Margaret's home address is shown as Millport. Her parents were John and mum Agnes (maiden name McConnochie).

Robert's parents were James and mum Helen (maiden name Bruce)

She died on 6/6/1939 aged 76 in Glasgow

Hope this helps  :)

Hi Merryhow

Jospeh died 12/5/1922 in a home in Millport but states his usual address was Almond Bank Millport. His sister in law Margaret was the informant. He was single.

Dad James and mum Helen (nee Bruce).

The cert and those above in my previous posting are all on Scotland's People

Cheers :)

Hi Ann, thanks for the info.I already have a lot of info on most of Robert's siblings but almost nothing on Robert. When I saw Margaret's address on Joseph's will I suspected she may have been born in Millport.I'd thought that if she was John and Agnus were most likely to be her parents. Nice to have confirmation.

James and Helen were my gggrandparents I have details on them,it is James parents who are causing me problems.I have their marriage and James birth but can't find their births or deaths. No doubt they will turn up sometime,I've plenty others to work on till then.

    Thanks again
