Link - Parish Church of St Nicholas Francis Street
« on: Sunday 02 September 07 05:49 BST (UK) »
I was interested, and somewhat surprised, when having a look at the website of The Church of St. Nicholas of Myra Francis Street, Dublin to learn that the Isle of Man was formerly part of the Parish of Francis Street. The registers for the church began in 1742 and the early registers contained baptismal entries for the Isle of Man.

a small amount of history is at www.manxnotebook.com/parishes/rcath/rc.htm - on the back wall of St Mary's in Douglas is (or was) a transcription of some of these Irish records - post 1810 the records are held on the Island and a transcription (of the often poorly written) 1847 reg is at www lawsons ca website has changed under noncomformist baptisms! - this is not however the place to argue religious history.

any thing with a Manx Connection
