My name is Denise M. Shiells, my parents and family are from Scotland in the area you are researching.  My Dad's name is George Wm. Shiells, his mothers name was Margaret Shiells (Kerr) married to William Shiells.  My dad married Joan Shiells and I'm one of those daughters who was born in Edinburg Scotland and moved to the USA in the mid 60's.  I also have a son William Stuart Shiells-and he now has a daughter Julie McKaye Shiells.

I also had family in Haddington. Surname Shiells. My fathers name is James William Shiells born 1928 in Ontario and his fathers name was also James Shiells born 1894-96 in Haddington. I will attach some pictures of a gravesite in Haddington that seems to match my family.

I am researching Marrs from North Berwick.  James Marr married Johanna Jamieson, they had a son, Charles who married Jane Kirke and had a daughter, Jane who was my greatgrandmother and who emigrated to Australia in 1883.  I am also connected to Logans of Edinburgh and East Lothian. Some Marrs seem to have come from Aberdeen but most are in North Berwick, Haddington and that area.

Hi Siobhan,

I have just found out more about my 3xgreat gran. She was Helen ANDERSON born about 1814 in Gladsmuir, East Lothian and as far as I know ( still have to confirm it) her parents were John ANDERSON and Ann WATT. Is there a connection to your ANDERSONs?

I have quite a few Marrs in my tree but none from East Lothian unfortunately. Most of mine are from the Glasgow area. There is always the possibility though that they could have been related further back but as far as I am aware there is not an instance of a James Marr in my tree.
Looking for Hugh Marr and Mary Drummond.

I have all names in my line. I have Margaret Comb (1858 - 1931), daughter of James Comb and Esther Thomson. Her mother-in-law was Margaret Marr (born c.1836 - 1885), daughter of Robert Marr and Margaret Stewart.

My Andersons are from Whittinghame, I think. I haven't proven it yet but I think the father of my 3x great-grandmother is Robert Anderson (c. 1803 -), who married Agnes Brown. His children with Agnes were William, Robert, George, Marion and Gilbert Elliot. :)

Hopefully someone has a connection!
