Ireland - place of birth - 1881 Census.

If anyone has access to the 1881 England Census would they please look up the folowing:
RG11/1472  Folio 56   Page 15
27 New Street, Aylesbury, Bucks
Household comprising:
Alfred Collins, Head, 34, Upholster, b Aylesbury
Ann Collins, Wife, 36, Needlewoman, b???
plus issue Thomas, Alfred, George

I know Ann (formerly Phelan) came from Ireland but need someone with expertise of Irish places to 'translate' what is noted as being her place of birth.
Any ideas, vague or absolute certainity, wil be really appreciated as I've struggled with this for a long time! Thank you!

I think the last part of the placename might be a 'worthy' or 'corthy'?

Hi, I'm hoping it's the middle word as that's what I have been looking at....
Possibly mis-spelling of Enniscoffrey, a civil parish in Westmeath, or Enniscorthy, Catholic parish in Wexford.  I think the first part is Inis but this could be a wrongly spelt Ennis.....  Perhaps if they were Catholic they would quote a Catholic parish rather than a civl parish, or vice versa.  Just a thought

Thank you for your suggestions - it's certainly turning out to be a conumdrum. I've received various suggestions - no two the same! Realistically, I guess it'll be 'nigh on impossible' to pursue baptismal records from here in England but I'll do what I can to solve this mystery!

Are there other versions of it on other censuses or perhaps for relatives? For the county name?

I thought Inniscarthy too.

Unfortunately, I know nothing of her siblings...have tried looking at censuses for the St Pancras area of London where 'my' Ann Phelan married incase she had brothers / sisters living in the area too. No luck there!

Have tried scouring other censuses of the time to see if I can spot a place written in a similar maner - no joy there!

Other census returns merely state she came from 'Ireland' - this is the only one which gives me a clue to her village / town of birth. Sad then that it's fairly illegible!

Can't say I've not tried! That's why I appreciate input from other people

My vote is for Iniscorthy too. Inis is a common enough name prefix meaning "island", I think.
