Hello Christine:

Just want to say I wish I lived near so I go join your group.  My granddad was born in Wombwell 26 November  1900 he was Charles "Charlie Myers and his family has lived there for years.  Also my greatgrandmotehr Eliza Barker was born there as well.

I was born in Barnsley but live in Canada now, was over in Wombwell in 2011 and mangaged to get pictures of the houses the famlies lived.

Also my greatgrandfather Jim Myers died in Wombwell on 20 September 1948, at 119 Station Road Wombwell, I was wondering if you could find out who lived at that address? as his home address was 4 Queen Street Wombwell,

Thank you very much.

Cheers Anne

Hello everyone,
I am interested in finding any information about the Boldy family from the wombwell area. I have been researching for family history for the past 18 mths and today I visited wombwell cemetery and found the grave of my great great grandparents (James and Eliza Boldy). I am now looking for information about their children- Thomas, Annie Elizabeth, Mary (my great grandmother) who married John Smith, George, Louisa, Leonard, Willie and Irvin. George I do know is on the headstone of his parents and died in france in 1916 in the first world war.

I used to live in Wombwell, and on Park street too. Wombwell Hall was also opposite the school on Park street, without checking, I believe the Wombwell family may have originally lived there. But when I was a child the occupant was major Keeping. You can google the Wombwell family as I’ve seen their info in my own search. It should throw something up, that would help you.

Don't know if we're in the same line or not but this a link to my great-grandfather, James Wombwell:
https://digginupdeadpeople.wordpress.com/2015/01/12/week-2-king-james-wombwell/

He was born born 12 October 1821 to Zachariah Wombwell and Mary Webb and baptized in the parish of Stoke Newington. He died in Brookfield, MO in 1898.

My grandfather was Charles Austin Wombwell. His mother was James' third wife. My grandfather died in Nashville, TN in 1947.

His date of birth doesn't match yours but it's close. I'd be interested to know if he's the same James Wombwell you're looking for.
