Hi,
My copies of the register are on microfiche - so next time I get the chance I will check them out. But when I first went throught them I did not put down that he was a widower. I will let you know.
Surely I am on safe ground as we have a William Litchfield (married to Sarah)alive and well and living in Raunds in the 1841 and 1851 census and a William Litchfield (married to Mary) also living in Bedford in the 1841, 1851, 1861 census.
Surely this will prove that we have two William Litchfields living in the same area. I know that my William Litchfield (Bedford) was born in Rushden. I think I need to trace the William (Raunds) baptism to be completely sure. All the ones coming out of Rushden are accounted for. But I have been told that their are Litchfields in the Brixworth area in the 1640 and my Litchfields came out of Walgrave in the 1690's. So hopefully another strain of the family.
Can you see any age for William Litchfield (Raund) in the 1851 census?
Thanks
Peony
