Nita,

A quick repair.

I think the texture on this is on the paper the photo was printed on. I have tried to repair it without loing the texture. There are special tecniques to aplly texture like this.

Hi Nita

Like Rog I have given it a few quick adjustments
Removing the texture usuall results in a slight loss of sharpness

Not sure what scanner you use
On mine if I go to 'advanced' click there is a drop down menu that appears
In that drop down is a component called 'descreen'
If you make sure that is actioned (a tick usually) - this will remove most if not all your textured finish when you scan you photo

Hope this helps

Photo restoration: For best results please scan at 300-600dpi

This is looking good. really good Would it be better to have it scanned at a lower resulotion? would that make ay difference? Scanner is not with me My sister has the photo's and has scanned them in and emailed them. I would like the originals so that I can play with them but we can't always get what we want I'm affraid. This does look good. Double thumbs up.

Personally I would not advise scanning at a lower resolution - it will only make it harder to work on by the restorers
Hopefully the "descreen" will do what you are looking for

Nita,

Here is a colour one,

As Smurf says please scan at the highest resolution you can post on the board.

Thanks for the tip on descreening Smurf - it works on magazine photos too.

Hi Nita

I've had a go at colouring your lovely photo.  Managed to get rid of the texture but its lost some definition in the process.   ::)
