Hi Sue
I wasn't sure that you would receive my message seeing that your posts were in 2007 so I'm glad you did. My friend Charlie is a grandson of Annie Maud's sister Margaretha Ellen Jacobson (known as Nell and Ellen) who married Charles Seymour Vaughan.
I've done a bit of research on the Jacobsons and Warkes for Charlie mainly using the Victorian BDM indexes but also supplementing that with any articles or BDM notices in newspapers that I could find on the National Library of Australia's site
http://trove.nla.gov.au/ I found death notices for Johan Jacobson and Alexander Warke and they have helped confirm the names of their children, especially the married names of their daughters. There are a couple of interesting articles about Edward Povah as well, just in case you're not familiar with this treasure trove of a site.
I have the names of Johan's parents but nothing further back, also haven't found his arrival in Victoria or elsewhere in the country yet although his death notice in 1925 states he was a "A native of Denmark and colonist of 60 years". I have possibly found Alexander's arrival in Victoria in 1852 that ties in with his death notice in 1911 that states he was a "colonist of 60 years".
Perhaps you can fill in a few gaps for me (and Charlie).
By the way Charlie showed me a photo of his grandmother (with her husband and 2 sons) recently that was taken around 1912 or so from memory - if you'd like a copy I could borrow it and scan for you. I see that attachments are allowed in this group.
cheers for now
Jenny
