Morgan--Liverpool
« on: Thursday 20 September 07 08:55 BST (UK) »

Hiya peeps,

I have looked and looked on Ancestry, IGI etc for this family and can't find them.  ::)

I am trying to find Mary Morgan, b abt 1848 Liverpool. I have her marriage cert, her father is Richard, a Boiler Maker. She married Henry Ball in 1867, Liverpool.

On the 1851 census, I have found two Richards, with Mary as daughter, none are Boiler makers  ::)

HO 107/2176/707/24    and    HO107/2180/394/12

The trouble is, I can't find them before or after, to compare, and try to find clues. Any idea's would be very welcome.

Thanks,

Red   :)

Hi Red

Could Mary be a bit older? Looking on FamilySearch for a Mary Morgan with father Richard, there is one ch 29/11/1840 (in Hale).

The family is on the 1841 at a place called Dungeon, Childwall, Hale. [creepy eh!]HO107/Pc511/6/16/p26

Richard Morgan (22), Sarah (23) and Mary (1mth)

Richard b-?, Sarah and Mary b-Lancs
findmypast don't mention occupations in 1841.

Can't find Richard on the 1861.

Red.

I think your best way to sort this one out would be to get Mary MORGANs Birth Cert?

I did a quick search on FreeBDM (C1847-49), and there were 6 Mary Morgans, 1 Mary Ann, 1 Mary Jane, and a few Mary Ellens born in Liverpool (include West Derby and that adds 2 Mary Anns)?

If/When You apply for it, stipulate that You Only what the one with 'Father: Richard, Occupation Boilermaker'.

These can't be the same Mary's - the one christened in Nov 1840 would be older than one month on the 1841 census!

Clegg in Todmorden
Adamson in Edinburgh
Miller in Edinburgh
Nunn in Norfolk and Co Durham

Hi

FamilySearch:-
Event(s):
 Birth:
Christening:  29 NOV 1840   Hale, Lancashire, England

 Parents:
  Father:  Richard Morgan
  Mother:  Sarah Morgan

1841 census:-
Person: MORGAN, Richard
Address: Dungeon, Childwall, Hale

MORGAN, Richard M 22
MORGAN, Sarah F 23   Lancashire
MORGAN, Mary F 0  (1 months)   Lancashire

RG number:HO107 Piece:511 Book/Folio:6/16 Page:26

Same names, same place (Hale) - perhaps a month was a long time without TV? Mind you, on this census several years mean nothing.

Hi

There was a marriage at Childwall All Saints (Jan-Mar 1840) between a Richard Morgan and Sarah Becket.

Maybe this is the one above, although not neccessarily Red's Richard Morgan.

Hiya,

thanks everyone for taking the time to look for my Morgan family  :)

I'm just not sure about anything with this lot  ::)

I have been searching all day for any of them  :o :( ::)

Problem is, I don't even know her mother's name. :-\

It would be good if the family with the creepy address turned out to be mine  :o  8)

Thanks again,

red   :)

Hi Red,

I think a lot of us have been searching for them as we hate mysteries that we can`t solve ;D

Just to throw another coal on the fire have you seen the Richard Morgan, Boiler Maker born 1817 in Staffordshire and living in Polar, London on the 1881.  Trouble is I can`t for the life of me track him back to rule him out. :'(

Regards,
Mo

Hi Everyone,

there seems to be a lot of coals Mo  ;D

Was Boiler Maker a skilled profession ??? Or could he easily have changed occupation ???

I would send for Mary's birth certificate, if I could narrow it down a bit. But as Pegasuss says there are a few ::) I don't mind paying extra for them to look for her father, but I would still need to narrow the odds down a little I think  ;D

Thanks again folks,

Red  :)
