Hi,

Merseyside Record Office holds the Inquest Papers for Liverpool from 1937-1985. Papers under 75 years old are closed to the general public, and permission to view them must be sought from the Coroner's Office. Permission is usually only granted to close relatives of the deceased.

You may find a report of the Inquest in the local newspapers, held at the Record Office.

The Inquest Registers provide basic information including date, place and cause of death. The 75 year rule does not apply to these documents.

The following registers are available at Liverpool, all on microfilm.

Liverpool, 1852 to 1865.
Liverpool, 1898 to 1970.
Birkenhead, 1898 to 1972.
Wallasey, 1937 to 1976.

Regards,

Tony
