A short article about Conary Church and Kilmacoo National School which are located about three miles from Avoca village. It's interesting to note that the Church was built sometime between 1856 and 1859 by a mining company for the use of it's employees. Some of these guys were from Cornwall and Wales. The early services in the may have been conducted in the Welsh language. If some of your ancestors were Cornish or Welsh miners and appear to have vanished it's possible they may have been working in Co. Wicklow.
