1841 Census - BUTTON
« on: Saturday 06 October 07 17:24 BST (UK) »
Hi

Can anyone find Daniel Button for me in the 1841 census, please?  He should be in Framlingham, Suffolk.  In the 1851 census he was 73, which should make him born 1778 but parish records show differently at 1789!

Possibly living with wife Jemima.

Many thanks

There is a Jemima Button aged 30 Married living in Framlington Suffolk born in 1811 not sure if this is your Daniels wife?  she is with a family called Butchers, no sign in this household of a Daniel

The Daniel in 1851 census who fits your man is not living with a Jemima but a chap called John Dallestone

You're typing in info quicker than I can reply!!

Wonder where he is?!!

Jemima his daughter was living with the Butchers in the 1851 as their housekeeper but I thought that she was a spinster all her life. Would be kind enough to check the 51 for me to see what her martial status was in that.

Daniel's wife Jemima was dead by the 51 although I don't know when she died.

Thanks

Jemima in 1851 is a Housekeeper still with the Butchers she is 44 and still single, just to clarify Daniel had a lodger in 1851

Just for the record Jemima is still living with George Butcher as the housekeeper and she is unmarried.

There are a vouple of Daniel Buttons elsewhere in 1841 similiar age to your man, but does not identify where they were born.
